PERFORMANCE
Mentoring Project Status
At the completion of the 2008-2009 school year, the mentoring program had 172 mentors recruited and screened with completed applications and background checks on file.
In project year 2008-2009, 157 mentors were matched one-to-one with a student.
Over 38 % of students who have been matched with a mentor for at least one academic year showed an increase in their GPA. This was well above the expected outcome.
A total of 69% of students in the mentoring program either had the same number of absenses as in the past or decreased their absenteeism.
74% of mentoring students showed no increase in discipline referrals.
A Performance Objective was that 25% of student/mentor matches be sustained for a period of at least nine months by May 2009. We surpassed this goal and have over 30% of our initial matches still being sustained. Several of these matches are well into their second year.
